You probably already have a cemented-in opinion on how much you hate (or love) The Phantom Menace, so if you want to you can skip right past the extremely long movie review and check out how the video and audio rates (the audio, oh wow.), and then move on to the amazing set of extras on the disc. My review reflects this, as I will go through a complete breakdown of the story explaining what I like and do not like. Unlike some other people I actually like Episode I despite some of it's problems. I have been a fanatical fan since birth and I have literally grown up with the movies. To begin with let me tell you that I am probably the biggest Star Wars fan in the IGN offices. It features multiple pages with each one focusing on a specific part of the DVD be it the movie, video, audio or extras with the special features being broken up into multiple pages to better focus on the tons of goodies that you find on disc two. Since this first Star Wars DVD is truly a big event for the DVD format, and the fact that I am a super fanatical Star Wars fan and want to devote a lot of attention to the disc, I'm doing this review in a different way from the standard reviews you'd find on the site. The second saucer is packed with deleted scenes, an absolutely excellent hour-long documentary movie, all of the web documentaries, the theatrical trailers, seven TV spots, and more. On the first disc you get the movie in a 2:35 anamorphic widescreen transfer with a Dolby Digital 5.1 EX soundtrack and an audio commentary featuring George Lucas and multiple members of the creative force. On October 16th, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace will hit stores in a two disc special feature packed DVD.
